I just called....

Last year, actually about this time of year, I did a project on Memories - how a sound, image, scent, word, feeling, taste, etc can elicit a memory and how it will elicit different memories for each of us because we all have different experiences and experience things differently. Yesterday, Alex's coworkers threw us a belated wedding shower and the favors were these red and white chocolate mints. As soon as I saw them, it brought me back to my childhood. I was about 4 or 5 and it was Valentine's Day. It was the early 80s and my mom was playing "I just called to say I love you" over supper. Well she played the whole record - but this song always stood out to me. I wanted someone to love me enough to call just to say " I love you" and as always - for Valentine's Day, we had chocolate hearts at the dinner table with our supper.

Man In Tree?

Sunday we went hiking at Chimney Rock in North Carolina (www.chimneyrockpark.com) and it was awesome. Freezing Cold but awesome. Here are a few of my faves from the day!

Frozen in Time

I added a ton of pictures today because I've been slack and I actually went out picture hunting today and I couldn't narrow it down any further. Here's South Carolina after a Snow Storm :)

let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Well, snow has hit the upstate! Tonight Alex and I headed to the grocery store to pick up some rolls to go with the beef stew we had for supper and it was starting just as we were leaving the apartment. It was actually kind of exciting. LOL. About an hour ago, I went out on our patio to see if it was sticking and grab a couple of pics for everyone. Hopefully it'll still be there in the morning and I can grab some daylight shots as well. :)

late afternoon glow

Yesterday Alex and I went for a nice late afternoon walk through Falls Park as the sun was setting. I love this time of day... when the sun is setting and the light is so warm. These shots were both taken on our way to the park and have a few from the park that are possiblities for the challenge but I'm still trying to decide which one's best.... so this is just a preview :)

5 guys and darts

Last night the boys took me out to their home away from home - Five Guys. It's a burger joint they go to at least once a week. Later we went out to Connolly's - An Irish Pub to play some darts and shockingly The Girls BEAT The Guys!!! I also snagged a picture you would never find in NS - a vending machine for cigarettes in a bar!

let them eat cake

I took the top layer of our cake out of the freezer today to better wrap it (in tin foil and then into a tupperware container) so I thought I'd snap a pic to share with everyone while I was at it. Here it is - our beautiful and delicious cake :)

be in bloom

Check out the gorgeous (cherry?) blossoms I found yesterday afternoon while I was hanging out downtown!

be detailed

My camera died early on Friday so there are no shots on it of the actual wedding. We semi-revived the camera on Saturday - it's still not working completely and likely never will but I was able to take some detail shots on Saturday after the wedding and upload all the pictures that hadn't been uploaded yet. Here they are!

some shots of Christmas/winter in South Carolina :)

Shocking I know - but apparently we get ice!

new beginnings

Here are a couple of cool shots from my new city :)
