Bree

A great person once told me that friendships should never be counted by quantity - only by quality. Bree is one of my oldest friends and though we've been through our ups and downs, our friendship has always come out stronger on the other side. While I was home in NS, we had a chance to catch up and take some pictures. Here are some of the shots I took of her on one of our adventures....

Sunset Lake & Bree sneak peek

Oh boy! What a slacker I've continued to be! I have been taking lots of pictures, I just haven't been blogging, but now that I'm back from my 3 week Nova Scotian vacation, I have lots of photos to share from my adventures. Here are a quick few to share tonight: a gorgeous sunset and a gorgeous girl!

Sugar Shack

Oops!! So it's been a whole month since I blogged.... In my defense, I did move from South Carolina to Vermont during the past month, so it has been kind of nuts. We're now *temporarily* settled into my in-law's place until we can figure out where exactly we want to live and find a place that meets our wants and our price range...

Over the weekend, we went out to my brother- and sister-in-law's to tap some trees for maple syrup making. He's collecting sap all week and there'll be a boiling party on Saturday. We had a blast and I got some amazing shots, so I thought I'd share a few.

First up is the amazing view from their front porch!

Signs of Spring

Well, it seems like Spring might finally be on its way down here in South Carolina. The Cherry Blossom trees have started blooming and the grass is greening up. Here are a couple of shots I took this weekend while I was out getting pictures with Flat Stanley.

Focus

This week's theme is out of focus. When I found out the new theme, I immediately had an idea in my head of what I wanted to do. Unfortunately, in the chaos of the past few days, my plans fell through. But while I was cooking supper tonight, I remembered a few pictures I'd taken 2 summers ago, before I moved to South Carolina, before I was married, and well, before I really understood a lot of things.

These pictures were taken on the bus my way to Cape Breton for a weekend with some of my best friends. It was the last weekend that the four of us were all together before we ended up in 3 different countries and started getting married off. It was inevitable really that I would whip out my camera to entertain myself on the 8h bus ride by myself. The first shot was intentional - I'd always wanted to create "blurr art" after reading about it months before. The second two shots, they were definitely accidental. Taken during sunset, on bumpy cape breton roads, it was impossible to get a shot in focus. They've remained as rejects in my photo negatives folder since August 2007, but for this theme, they work. It's kind of ironic when you think about it... that a theme like out of focus can bring photo rejects to the forefront and let you reexamine your work... sometimes there's more to something than first appears. I even think I might frame the last one.
